the International Esports Federation and Asian Electronic Sports Federation unite

The global esports industry took a step closer to unification today with the news that the International Esports Federation (IESF) signed an MOU with the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) to form a collaborative relationship to promote and advance esports worldwide and across Asia in particular.
GAISF welcomes this news and notes the steady progress of IESF which has worked hard on its recognition within GAISF over the last years.
Commenting on the cooperation between IESF and AESF, President of GAISF, Raffaele Chiulli, said:
“Despite the extremely difficult situation sport is facing with the COVID-19 pandemic, we still need to plan for the future of sport development. That is why I welcome this landmark announcement; it shows that esports really is making progress and becoming more unified and organised with higher standards of governance.
“These type of initiatives will make it much easier for our international sports federation members to collaborate with esports which in turn will result in exciting and dynamic developments for all involved.”
GAISF has been working closely with key stakeholders in both the esports and the sport sectors over the last two years, to help establish a unified and consolidated approach to future collaboration. For this to happen, some aspects of esports will need to come together under an umbrella organisation that shares like-minded values and structures as mainstream sport.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 the signing ceremony between IESF and AESF was conducted remotely and digitally.
