The International Partnership Against Corruption in Sport (IPACS) is the latest initiative to complete its digital move to a new .sport domain, IPACS.sport.
Launched in February 2017 at the International Olympic Committee’s International Forum on Sports Integrity, IPACS’ mission is “to bring together international sports organisations, governments, inter-governmental organisations, and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen and support efforts to eliminate corruption and promote a culture of good governance in and around sport”.
In particular, IPACS is committed to reducing the risk of corruption in procurement relating to sporting events and infrastructure, ensuring integrity in the selection of major sporting events, and optimising compliance processes through good governance principles to mitigate the risk of corruption.
The .sport initiative, managed exclusively by GAISF, is an opportunity for sports stakeholders to mark themselves out as a reputable and trusted member of the sports landscape. The domain is a clear endorsement of each organisation’s credibility, and GAISF only accepts applications from credible sporting bodies.
As a clear indication of authenticity, the .sport domain is particularly important for initiatives such as IPACS, which works tirelessly to protect sports and its athletes. IPACS.sport is now the home for all the latest news and updates from IPACS and its work within sport.
IOC Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer Ms Pâquerette Girard Zappelli said: “GAISF has been associated with the IPACS initiative since its formation in 2017. IPACS’ digital site may be the first interaction our stakeholders have with the platform, and so it should reflect the modernity and progressive practices that each task force implements in its strategy for tackling corruption.”
“Having a .sport domain provides a trusted platform to keep the sports movement, as well as the other partners, governments and intergovernmental organisations (COE, OECD, UNODC), informed of the latest news and projects.”
GAISF Director Philippe Gueisbuhler said:
“We are proud that initiatives such as IPACS are choosing to join the ever-growing .sport ecosystem. This is another clear indication that key actors across the global sporting community understand the value of a trusted space.”
“GAISF is a strong supporter of IPACS and its initiatives, and looks forward to continuing its close relationship in the future.”
In January 2019, GAISF launched its general availability phase for individually-registered domain names, open to all sports stakeholders, including International Federations, clubs, disciplines, brands, cities and the media.
