GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli calls on sports community to #BeActive
GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli is calling on the international sports community and GAISF Members to encourage their communities young and old to get out and #BeActive as part of the European Week of Sport.
The European Week of Sport, celebrated annually on 23-30 September, is a European Commission initiative that helps millions of people across the world to build better, healthier lifestyles through an array of activities across Europe. Since its launch in 2015, it has continued to develop and grow, and the 2019 Week of Sport celebrated a record-breaking 16 million Europeans participating in #BeActive activities.
In light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, which forced many to find innovative ways to stay active whilst in lockdown for a prolonged period of time, the European Week of Sport is more important than ever before to promote physical activity.
GAISF and SportAccord President Raffaele Chiulli said:
“The European Week of Sport presents an important opportunity for the international sports community to use the power of sport to encourage people of all ages to be more active and get moving.
“In view of the challenging times that we find ourselves in, the sports community has an even greater responsibility to inspire people to be active to improve their mental and social wellbeing as well as physical health.”
In support of the European Week of Sport, GAISF’s Twitter page will be sharing and promoting content from International Sports Federations and GAISF Members honouring the initiative.
