GAISF President attends the 9th Olympic Summit
GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli joined International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach, senior IOC Members and influential Olympic stakeholders from the global sports community for the 9th Olympic Summit held virtually today.
President Chiulli represented International Sports Federations (IFs) at the virtual meeting where next year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games were among the key items discussed. In addition, the fight against doping, next steps for Olympic Agenda 2020 and esports and gaming formed part of the Summit’s open dialogue.
Ensuring sport is a key part of the post-pandemic recovery was the red thread running throughout the Summit, with a particular focus on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Following the virtual meeting, President Chiulli said:
“It was a pleasure to represent GAISF and its Members virtually for the 9th edition of the Olympic Summit. Following today’s fruitful discussions, I would like to reiterate that the IOC, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and International Sports Federations have GAISF’s full support to ensure that athletes and their respective sports have their moment to shine in Tokyo.
“As the united voice of sports, GAISF is committed to working together to achieve our common goal of a better world through sport. As we all know, 2021 will present many challenges, however the GAISF family is ready to help sport assume its proper place in everyday life.”
