The Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Sustainability department have started their collaboration to share knowledge and organise workshops and conferences to enhance the sustainability best practices of its members.
The partnership, which was launched at the IF Forum on 5-7 November 2018, signifies GAISF’s long-standing commitment to playing a role in safeguarding the future of the planet. GAISF recognises that sport has a major role to play when it comes to sustainability, and this collaboration will enable member federations and observers to learn and adopt best practice from a series of workshops, conferences and working groups throughout the year.
The programme is designed to help members adopt an ingrained sustainability culture which extends from the day-to-day operations of their offices to their events around the world.
GAISF Senior Vice President Dr Raffaele Chiulli said: “This collaboration will undoubtedly ensure that our members are placed in the best possible position to implement best practices that contribute to world sustainability. The IOC has an impressive depth of knowledge in this area, and so by creating this network we are actively contributing to making the world cleaner and more sustainable for future generations!”
