World Athletics is the largest international sports governing body with 214 Member Federations. Founded in 1912 the International Association of Athletics Federations was created to fulfil the need for a world governing authority, for a competition programme, for standardised technical equipment and for a list of official world records. In 2019 the IAAF became World Athletics with its vision to: To lead, govern and develop the sport of athletics in all its forms worldwide, uniting the Athletics Family in a spirit of excellence, integrity and solidarity.
