World Skate, formerly the Fédération Internationale Roller Sports – FIRS – was founded in 1924 and is an IOC member since 1998. WORLD SKATE is the sole governing body of roller sports and the disciplines under its umbrella are: Artistic Skating, Speed Skating, Rink Hockey, Inline Hockey, Skateboarding, Inline Freestyle, Inline Downhill, Inline Alpine, Roller Derby, Roller Freestyle and Scooter.
WORLD SKATE participates in the most important international events such as Panamerican Games, Asian Games, Caribbean Games and World Games. Every year WORLD SKATE organizes the World Championships of all its disciplines and every two years these World Championships take place in one single location with the name of World Skate Games. Last edition of the World Skate Games were in Nanjing (China) in 2017 and in Barcelona (Spain) in 2019. The next one will be in Argentina in 2022.
