The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) is the international governing body of the sport of orienteering. The IOF was founded in 1961 and recognised by the International Olympic Committee in 1977. The IOF has 78 member federations on all continents. The IOF is a member of ARISF, IWGA, IMGA, and GAISF. Orienteering is included in The World Games and World Masters Games, and ski orienteering in CISM Winter Military World Games and Winter Universiade. The vision of the IOF is that orienteering shall be a truly global sport and included in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
